Types of construction adhesives and their application

Application of adhesives in construction projects

The use of adhesives in construction has significant advantages. It can be safely said that with the use of construction adhesives, the construction industry has undergone a great transformation. Construction adhesives are used in various parts of a construction project. From gluing building materials together and creating uniform dispersion of construction load pressure to repairing and repairing materials and increasing the resistance of the structure; All of them benefit from the numerous advantages of construction adhesives.

As we mentioned above, the use of construction adhesives is extremely economical. The reason for this is related to the structure, composition, and production processes of various types of construction adhesives, as well as the implementation, conditions, and requirements for its use.

Adhesive can be defined as a non-metallic material that has the ability to permanently connect surfaces to each other through various bonding processes. All types of adhesives are used in various industries such as construction, automotive, aerospace, electronics, etc.

Types of construction adhesives

There are different types of construction adhesives, some of which are obtained naturally and others through artificial processes. Depending on the chemical structure of each type of construction adhesive and its capabilities, they are used in different construction sectors. The most commonly used construction adhesives are as follows:

Polymer glue

Polymer adhesive is produced through a synthetic process and used in construction projects. This type of construction adhesive has high adhesive strength, ability to withstand construction loads, and high flexibility. Polymer glue is used in gluing ceramic tiles to the wall, flooring with different materials including wood, as well as preparing and implementing a false ceiling.

This type of glue has the property of hardening against heat and is easy to flow at high temperatures. In fact, polymer glue reacts to heat depending on its molecular structure.

Acrylic glue

Acrylic adhesives are widely used in the modern construction industry. The high strength of this material in gluing building materials makes it suitable for use in a wide range of construction processes. Acrylic glue has a smoothing property against high temperatures, and in this way it can be used easily.

Resin construction adhesive

Resin glue has an extremely high bonding ability. This material is produced in the form of powder, spray, emulsion and liquid. This glue is used in both composite and compomer cases. One of the characteristics of resin glue is its resistance to bacterial leakage.

HMA hot glue

MMA hot glue, which is used by a heating gun, is widely used in construction. The vaporizing components that are present in this material make the glue drying step in the construction to be eliminated by itself. One of the features of this glue is its long shelf life, which means that it does not need special conditions for storage and maintenance.

Epoxy glue

Epoxy glue is used in a wide range of construction processes. This glue has a high adhesive strength, its resistance to chemical environments is high, and it also has a high resistance to the pressure of construction loads. Epoxy glue is produced in two types, one-component and two-component.

Anaerobic adhesive

Monomers in non-aerobic adhesives work only in the absence of air. This type of glue is more non-toxic than other acrylics. Non-aerobic adhesives are used to join glass, wood and plastic.
